Dear Pastor Joshua, I am writing to you regarding the event mentioned above. We would like to invite the young people from your church, ages 16 to 19, to attend this conference and to bring along their non-Christian friends as well. This conference is evangelistic and aims to provide a Christian perspective on these two topics. Christian youths will be further built up and the non-Christian friends they bring will be given a reasonable presentation of the faith. CONFERENCE DETAILS Date: Friday, August 10th, 2007. A school holiday (day after National Day). Venue: St Andrew's Cathedral-North Transept Hall (just next to City Hall MRT) Session 1- "THE CODE OF LIFE" 1pm to 3pm Description: What secrets does DNA contain for life? Can man break the DNA code? Why do the scientists who discovered the structure think 'the powers held traditionally to be the exclusive property of the gods might one day be ours.'? Can the hidden codes produce life? The speaker: Professor Lee Hin Peng is a lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine, at the National University of Singapore. Session 2- "BELIEF IN GOD- INTELLECTUAL SUICIDE?" 3:30 to 5:30pm Description: With the advancement in Mathematics, Science and Technology, is the belief in God intellectual suicide? Can Jesus be born of a virgin? Can water turn into wine (according to the biblical accounts in the Gospels)? Can the existence of God ever be proven? The speaker: Dr Ng Pak Tee is an Assistant Professor at the Policy and Leadership Studies Academic Group at the National Institute of Education (NIE), where he teaches school leaders, teachers, Master and PhD candidates. To sign up for one or both sessions, please register with me, so that we can provide enough materials and refreshments. We will not be charging for this conference. Thank you so much. Hope to see you and your young people there. Information for this information can also be found at veritas4.blogspot.com. Partnering with you for the sake of the Gospel, Wai Ling
Hi all!
Thanks for the practice. I felt really edified by all of u.
1a). Ben Lam's short worship (not the no of songs, but the QUALITY - how much Holy Spirit) was really edifying cos it reminded me how we should just be still and worship God for who He is, with all our hearts, no need for jumping, raised hands etc. (but still if we want to, we should! That'd be giving Him pleasure!)
The 1st song (I will lift my eyes to you) had really meaningful and poetic lyrics that touched me too:
"I will lift my eyes to the Maker
Of the mountains I can’t climb
I will lift my eyes to the Calmer
Of the oceans raging wild
I will lift my eyes to the Healer
Of the hurt I hold inside
I will lift my eyes, lift my eyes to You"
The 1st line spoke to me because I felt so inadequate w/o James' help for "Fall to you", so it is comforting to know that THE MAN, God is in charge.
The 2nd line was good cos I was feeling stressed about the coming PTL and the no of practices we are left w but still we are always in good hands - Jesus'!
(Wonder if anybody has a mp3 of the song?)
1b) I felt very ministered to the QT (quiet time) sharings from Jinrong, Clara, and Ben Lam. They really remind us to be conscious of our walk with God. To be conscious of God's promises, to be conscious ourselves that we do not bring glory to ourselves with our music but point ppl to Jesus.
Let's encourage Samuel to do his QT and each other (esp Timothy) to do more!

2. Congratulations to Ben Lam again for stepping out in faith to proclaim Jesus' love for Him via Baptism!
Hope the rest of you will take time to pray and consider Baptism. Not because I asked u so, but becos u're convicted by the Holy Spirit and/or God's word.
3. NDP Break
Take the break as a little retreat from PTL practices to pray, study and prac k? (the 3 disciplines!)
